MAP Pricing & Discount Restrictions

Some bowling products are sold under manufacturer MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) rules. That can limit sale pricing and which promo codes apply. Here’s how discounts work at BowlersMart and what to do if a code won’t apply.

🏷️ What MAP Means

Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) is a pricing policy set by many bowling manufacturers. Retailers agree not to advertise or sell covered products below a minimum price.

  • MAP protects brand pricing across the industry
  • It is not a BowlersMart “gotcha” — it comes from the manufacturer agreement
  • Which items are MAP-controlled can change as brands update policies

🛒 How It Affects Your Order

  • MAP items may be excluded from sitewide sales or automatic discounts
  • A cart can mix MAP and non-MAP items — discounts may apply only to eligible lines
  • The checkout total is the source of truth for what can be discounted

🎟️ Promo Codes & Coupons

If a code doesn’t reduce the price of a MAP (or otherwise excluded) item, the system is usually working as designed.

  • Codes may show as invalid or apply $0 to restricted products
  • Free-shipping offers may still apply even when item discounts don’t (depends on the promotion)
  • We generally cannot override MAP to force a lower price

  • Striking Rewards coupons and Pay with Points follow program rules at checkout; some product/order types may limit stacking — if something won’t apply, contact us with a cart screenshot
  • Gift cards are a payment method, not a manufacturer discount, and usually still work on MAP merchandise

❓ If a Discount Won’t Apply

  1. Confirm the code is typed correctly and still within its date range
  2. Remove/re-add the code after updating the cart
  3. Check whether the promotion excludes sale items, pre-orders, or specific brands
  4. If you believe the code should apply to a non-MAP item and still fails, contact us with:
    • Order or cart details
    • The promo code
    • Screenshot of checkout
